I have been going to Hauz Khas Village for years – to catch up with the girls, or to explore the ruins of 13th-century Delhi. But the purpose of my visit to the bustling hub this time is drastically different from the times before.
This time I am in for a pampering session that I can’t wait for. Down one of the nondescript lanes in ‘the village’ is Blossom Kochhar Earth to Bottle Spalon, where I have booked a day of some ‘me’ time. As soon as I set my eyes on the entrance, I am impressed. With its rustic look and green surroundings, it is an unusual space for a spalon – I am used to the more ‘mod’ and industrial chic ones that seem to be the norm nowadays.
Spread over three floors, the spalon has an old-world charm to it that I instantly fall in love with. Next up are a manicure and pedicure. A scrub followed by an essential oils massage on my pressure points are welcomed by my tired feet, and ‘Hand Patrol’ is a blessing in disguise for my aching fingers. Flaunting a new shade on my nails, I lay myself down for ‘Breathe’, the antipollution facial recommended by the in-house expert. I look at the greenery outside through the ceiling-to-floor windows, and then close my eyes as the treatment begins. I drift into a restful slumber and when I awaken, there’s a new sparkle in my eyes...
